President's LetterGretchen Jordan, CVAGreetings Colleagues, Summer is almost here and with the change of seasons most of us will see some type of changes to our programs. Some gear up for the summer, others a brief hiatus. There may be changes to programs due to budget cuts, or due to outside factors such as the flooding in Tennessee or the oil spill on the gulf coast. We know the impact of a volunteer program well managed has on the volunteers, its agency and the community. It's such a cliché, but now more than ever, volunteers are making a big difference everywhere. AL!VE will be presenting two workshops at this year's National Conference on Volunteering and Service in New York City. Please join us during AVMI for Recognizing Our Worth: Advocating for the Profession of Volunteer Resource Management and Tuesday June 29th at 7:00 am, Career Development and Networking Opportunities for Volunteer Managers. Although we understand there will not be an exhibit hall which means no booth for AL!VE, myself and several board members will be in attendance throughout the conference(we'll have an AL!VE badge or something special to identify us). If you see any of us, stop and introduce yourself! We're happy to meet you and answer any questions and chat. I hope you have been able to participate in at least one of our member webinars. So far this year Susan Ellis and Katie Campbell have given excellent presentations. More are on the schedule for later this summer and fall, so please watch our website for more details. Committee work continues to plan for AL!VE presence at regional conferences, a peer mentoring database, promoting professional standards, and more. AL!VE's Board of Directors is an all-volunteer group of committed professionals who I am so proud to work with. If you're interested on being a part of a Have a great summer, and thank you for being a member of AL!VE!
