Registration Now Open! Volunteer Management Professionals Conference 2020

October 20 & 21, 2020!  "Managing Risk- Balancing Aversion & Innovation".
How will you manage risk in your career, your program, and with volunteers? To view our speakers and learn more, visit the conference website.  Registration discounts will be given for AL!VE Local Association members and those who register before July 1.

**note**  Given the uncertainty created by the current pandemic, we are already making backup plans. Obviously we are hopeful that this won’t be necessary in late October but we want you to know we will be prepared either way.
Your first option if the avoidance of group gatherings is still being recommended will be for a full refund. Your second option will be to participate in a version of this conference without the need to gather in a room together. You would however, get your own local virtual room where your booked attendees can gather together for group discussions across the whole room or individual “tables”. Although the cost to us will be substantially higher to run it this way, your fee to AL!VE or VMPC will remain the same.
Attend a 30 minute informational webinar to learn more about our sixth annual Volunteer Management Hybrid Conference. Register on our calendar.

Kelli Crawford, CVA

Kelli Crawford is the Volunteer Coordinator and Curator of Collections for the Greensboro Science Centerand Board Member, AL!VEand Vice Chair of the Volunteer Management Committee, Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Hearing this time in our lives referred to as our new normal is difficult when the situation is anything but normal.  Within a few days, my organization shifted from planning for volunteers to still be on site despite being closed to the public to telling them they couldn’t be on site at all until this passes.  We switched gears to exploring how we could can stay connected to them and, if possible, offer them virtual volunteering options.
I’ve also spent much of my time connecting

AL!VE offers extended membership and renewal dates

Cairn Reisch, CVA

Your membership with AL!VE should be an essential piece of your professional development but with these uncertain times, we realize membership fees may be a challenge at this time.  We want our members and the profession to be able to utilize an AL!VE membership!

Balancing the above and that our operating expenses are funded largely by membership dues, the board has met and voted on these 'relief' packages for our members, effective May 1, 2020:

New members (ANY membership plan):  Any new members joining between April 20 – June 30 membership payment is deferred up to 90 days after joining date.

Renewals (ANY Membership plan): If you have been laid off, hours cut, or position change affected by the C19 Virus, your renewal date will be extended an additional 90 days.  For example, if your renewal date is May 1, your membership renewal fee is not due until August 1.

Past Due (Individual Members only) If you have been laid off, hours cut, or position change affected by the C19 Virus, your renewal date will be extended an additional 90 days IF you contact us by May 31.

Members can take advantage of all benefits AL!VE offers except the Mentoring programs.  For that, you must be a current paid member.

We will be emailing your invoice, renewal, past due notices with the details next week.

Your response needed -COVID 19 Survey

If you manage volunteers, please take five minutes to complete this important COVID-19 / coronavirus survey from SpinkTank. There is a section for volunteers as well, so pass along to volunteers too. The results will help us build a picture locally and internationally about what's happening and plan for the future.  http://ow.ly/YfD250z6DUh

Erin will also present initial findings via an AL!VE Academy webinar on May 13, at 1:30 PM Eastern.
