Vote for a universal hashtag for our profession!

Elisa Kosarin, CVA

Help us find a universal hashtag for our profession!

If you are a volunteer manager, you may have noticed that we use a bewildering array of hashtags to describe our profession. Two CVAs, Liza Dyer and Elisa Kosarin (also an AL!VE member), decided to do something about this confusing slew of options. They reached out to  leading influencers in the field and asked them to help identify a universal hashtag for our profession.

Now, we are asking you, our volunteer manager colleagues, to help us narrow down the field and select one universal hashtag that we may all use when sharing information through Twitter or other social media.

Please take a moment to click on this link and vote on the hashtags. We have 18 possible choices (our influencers are a creative bunch). Vote for your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place choices. The survey remains open until Friday, September 2.

The winner of the universal hashtag vote will be announced through Liza and Elisa's Twitter accounts, @lizaface and @THNonprofit, through AL!VE, and on the TwentyHats.com website on Tuesday, September 6.

Volunteer Manager Burnout -

Volunteer Manager Burnout research project

Melissa A. Heinlein Storti, Ph.D., MA, MS, CAVS asked AL!VE members to respond to a survey last year for research on her doctorate about volunteer manager burnout.  Thank you to those who responded!

Melissa has produced an executive summary about her research.  You can view the summary here, or on our website resource page.

Congratulations and thank you to Melissa for her efforts on this topic!

Three months to go until IVMDay!

Volunteer Management  One job.  Many hats.
Now is a great time to plan for OUR day, November 5!  Celebration and recognition breakfast?  Governor's Proclamation?  News release? Lots of terrific ideas on the IVM Day website.

From the Members of the Global IVMDay Committee  -

Aside from being a theme that we hope many people can have some fun with, it also reflects the multi-dimensional skill base that VM’s have to develop to be truly effective in their roles.
Further, it speaks a lot about how volunteer leadership is such a critical part of so many spheres of society.
Over the coming weeks and months we will be developing and releasing social media memes, posters and other tools that you can use to start to promote the day to your members and peers, but in the meantime, simply “Get Excited!”
Thanks again for all your support!

True or False: A Quick Guide to Understanding Journalism Ethics

Do you deal with the media in your volunteer program?

Not sure how to respond or exactly how to answer a question?  Be pro-active and check out these 'true or false' tips at a great blog post by Kivi's NonProfit Communications Blog.
