President's Message

AL!VE Board President Megan Vixie, MPA, CVA, PHR, SHRM-CP

Dear AL!VE Members,

Fall is in the air and I am reflecting on the things that we can look forward to through our work at AL!VE. I know sometimes looking for the bright side of things can be challenging to do considering our current climate, but I also know that looking forward in anticipation for positive things on the horizon can help us weather the storms!

In partnership with Better Impact, AL!VE will be hosting our virtual live-stream conference, "Managing Risk: Balancing Aversion & Innovation." We have almost 30 local associations and sites that will be hosting across the U.S. and Canada. I really enjoy this conference as we get to connect with our peers but also hear from leading experts around innovative and relevant topics for our work today. And what a lineup!

A special thank you to all who have applied to serve on our Board of Directors for the 2021 elections. We have had more interest than ever and the Board Development Committee will begin the interviewing and selection process over this next month.  They will prepare a slate of board members which will require your vote of approval coming at the end of this month.  I am truly excited to see what the future holds for our board and our association.

And lastly, a thank you to all of you that have continued your professional development with us in more ways than one. From the mentor program to communities of practice, AL!VE Academies or socials, it has been awesome to connect with you and just get support from our colleagues all around.  If you haven't been able to engage with our community, that is ok. With so many competing demands, go easy on yourself. Join us when you can and we'll be ready to say welcome back!

As always, continue to be safe and healthy!
