Statement from AL!VE President: Where Do We Go From Here?
Dear AL!VE Community,
We recognize that some recent executive orders from the new administration have created uncertainty for many of our members and the broader volunteer engagement sector. The situation remains fluid, complex, and, at times, confusing as policies continue to evolve and their implications unfold.
Please know that all of us at AL!VE are actively monitoring developments and working to understand the potential impact on our members, organizations, and the communities we serve. We stand with you in these uncertain times, reaffirming our commitment to building a community in which all can find belonging and thrive as a core value of our work. We are committed to celebrating a community in which all are included, represented, and belong, and to supporting our members in doing the same.
While we navigate these challenges together, consider these ways to take action:
- Talk about it. Connect with your peers in our upcoming peer connection chat where you can talk in a safe space with peers about how you are feeling, what other organizations are doing in response, and ways in which we can empower ourselves as a collective. This session, Where Do We Go From Here?, will be held on Wednesday, February 12 from 1:30-2:30 EST and led by our Executive Director, Nicole R. Smith, CVA and is open to both members and non-members. This event has ended. Find follow up notes and resources from the Peer Connection Chat here.
- Connect with leaders at your organization to determine how the Executive Orders impact you and your organization.
- Consider joining AL!VE’s Advocacy Committee, which helps shape our collective response and ensures that the voices of volunteer engagement professionals are heard. Learn more here.
While much remains uncertain in the U.S. right now, one thing is clear: the needs of our communities persist. Let’s navigate these challenges, support one another, and remain steadfast in our commitment to service together.
In partnership,
Darlene Laird, CVA
2025 Board President
