National Summit Volunteers

The National Summit on Volunteer Engagement hosted by AL!VE will bring together nonprofit, government, and corporate professionals in volunteerism and service to ignite their passion for innovation, unlock their potential, and connect with the field.

Calling all AL!VE members and Sacramento-area volunteers. If you're attending the Summit or you live nearby, this is your chance to be part of history. With a variety of ways to engage and collaborate with peers, you'll help create a welcoming, high-quality experience for every attendee.

Why Volunteer?

Summit volunteers help power the experience and get a front-row seat to the energy of the field. Volunteering is a great way to:

  • Be part of AL!VE history and help shape the profession
  • Connect with volunteer engagement leaders from across the country
  • Build skills in event support, logistics, and experience design
  • Gain meaningful leadership experience behind the scenes
  • Support an inclusive, welcoming Summit for all attendees

The Commitment

Volunteer opportunities range from short time blocks to full-day leadership roles, with shifts available before, during, and after Summit programming.

  • You can sign up for one shift or multiple shifts
  • Training and role briefings will be provided
  • Onsite Volunteer Leads will be available throughout the event for support and troubleshooting

The Opportunities

Choose the roles that match your interests, skills, and availability:

  • Registration & Hospitality: Greet attendees, manage check-in, distribute badges,and troubleshoot registration needs.
  • Session, Room & Plenary Hosts: Open/close sessions, support speakers, manage timing, facilitate Q&A, and resolve room issues.
  • Summit & Operations Leadership Support: Provide overall support for onsite leadership, including managing run-of-show, coordinating logistics, and speakers and volunteers support.
  • Volunteer Management: Coordinate volunteer check-in, scheduling, briefings, communications, and coverage throughout the Summit.
  • Logistics & Materials Support: Handle signage, attendee bags, room resets, load-in/load-out, and material transport.
  • Technology & App Support: Support AV, Wi-Fi, event app updates, live announcements, and onsite tech troubleshooting.
  • Sponsor, Exhibitor & Technology Row Support: Assist sponsors/exhibitors, manage exhibit spaces, support vendors, and coordinate booth logistics.
  • AL!VE Exhibitor Booth Team: Welcome attendees, share resources, answer questions, and help connect attendees with the right next steps.
  • Speaker Coordination & Support: Ensure speakers/panelists are prepared, supported, and in the right place at the right time.
  • Floaters & Troubleshooters: Fill coverage gaps, support meals/receptions, and respond to urgent onsite needs.
  • Safety, Accessibility & Evaluation: Support ADA accommodations, incident response, quiet space coordination, attendance tracking, and real-time feedback collection.

To sign up, you'll first need to create an AL!VE online ID if you don't already have one.

  1. Visit the registration page at the following link and enter your email address
  2. Select the Non-Member Volunteer option
  3. Select Continue and complete the registration form
  4. Indicate your communication preferences
  5. When prompted, select Summit Volunteer Committee
